They are clearly not perfect, but their unfavorable behaviors can easily be excused as youthful ignorance. The other characters in the manga, who is Gakurouta’s childhood friend and Yuriko’s friend, are also very likeable individuals. This is something we can’t help but find really charming and adorable. By that, we mean that they are not trying to make themselves or the other fall in love but that they want to coexist as a couple for the long term.

They don’t treat each other as objects to further their own goals and are actually trying to make their marriage work. They may have married each other out of convenience, but they honestly do their best to support each other. Yuriko and Gakurouta are both very likeable characters. Most of the drama involves Yuriko and Gakurouta’s past, which is by no means uninteresting, as flashbacks often show the two characters’ times of confusion. However, the manga is actually very light on the drama, which is very far apart throughout the volume. After all, the mangaka intentionally – we think – made the setup of Yuriko and Gakurouta too complicated. Given the premise of the manga, we expected it to be heavy on drama. Their relationship is indeed a strange one at first glance, but it gets more complicated (but eye-opening) when you learn that Yuriko is a huge fan of Boys Love stories and that Gakurouta has unrequited love towards his childhood friend. It is clear that the married life of Yuriko and Gakurouta is not like what one would expect from a typical couple. I want to be a wall showing the married life of a gay man and asexual woman. Here’s our review of I Want to be a Wall Volume 1. I want to be a wall that handles an interesting setting where a newlywed couple experiences their feelings in an unconventional way. This kind of confusing setup is the subject of this review. Sometimes it results in love, but most of the time it results in chaos. There are also arranged marriages in which two people are forced to marry each other. Sometimes there are third parties or even fourth parties. While popular romance media often show it as a one-plus-one case, this is not always the case.
